As the scripture reminds us, for a Christian there is an eternal destiny already fixed.
we who choose through the use of our freedom!
" is your faithfulness, Lord
according to his works You repay each man " .
(Psalm 62, 13)
"... God our Saviour ...
wants all men to be saved
and come to know the truth. "

Destiny and the peasant
(Jean-Francois Millet Man with a hoe [L'homme à la Houei)
Oil on canvas , about 1860-1862)
Indeed one day in England, he saw a farmer who sowed barley , and being anxious about the hardness of the work, cursed with terrible curses .
Duns Scotus reminded him of the commandments of God, but the peasant replied more angrily than ever: "You lose your time and words, I know very well that in any case we will accomplish the will of God, for He has things from all over eternity and knows what fate touches me.
And then, virtuous or guilty, I'll go where I must go: either to Heaven or Hell.
The pious doctor, after listening patiently , counter that attitude by means of a suitable example to do so convinced and amazed:
" Let's see, he said: if God, as you think, has imposed on all things from eternity, such a fate, why do you take the trouble to cultivate the field?
always If God has decreed that quest'orzo sprouts in your field, sprout equally, whether you sow it or not. On the contrary, if it has determined that there should germinate, you suderai vain "(!!!)».

(Father Stefano M. Manelli, Blessed John Duns Scotus - Doctor Mariano , Casa Mariana Publishing - Frigento (AV), pg. 61-62 - Text slightly adapted)
" ... I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse
.
Therefore choose life, that you and your descendants
loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice
and cleaving to him, because he is the
your life and your longevity ...».
.
Therefore choose life, that you and your descendants
loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice
and cleaving to him, because he is the
your life and your longevity ...».
(Deuteronomy 30: 19-20)
"If you want, you can keep the commandments;
being true depends on your good will.
He has placed before you fire and water:
where you tend your hand .
He has placed before you fire and water:
where you tend your hand .
